I want to staff at NTLP!
FIRST, the basics: You have to have attended a NTLP while in high school (any year). SECOND, you must have graduated from high school and completed one year of college or work experience.
After those basics, the next most important thing is the desire to GIVE BACK the motivation, inspiration and enthusiasm you got from the program as an attendee.
Scott Higa (alumni, 1998) summed it up in this open letter to the staff:
If we can get just one student per camp to step beyond their barriers and to come out believing they are a leader, it is all worth it. I am so happy about what we have done so far.
We can do it because NTLP has helped us become leaders. I know some of us, especially me, would not think of ourselves as leaders unless we came to this camp. I do not want this program to ever end. I want to know that OUR children will be able to attend NTLP and come back with a new understanding of leadership, life, and themselves.
All of you had a part of your life changed by NTLP, or you would not continue to return to staff. I believe in you and your abilities as a leader. I promise you are making a difference in someone’s life. Don’t ever stop believing that.
During this last weekend, one of my former group members came up to me and told me how wonderful it was to be at NTLP. As tears ran down her cheeks, she said that it was a dream of hers to become an NTLP staff. Guys, we are living that dream. Be proud.”

Staffers are so committed, they pay their own room and board to attend. This year’s staff fee is just $225 and includes your room and board for four days and three nights, all meals, no sleep and your own NTLP staff polo. (Transportation is on own.)
Over the years, we’ve had so many returning staff that it’s been difficult to make room for new recruits but that said, every year we need to make room for just a few so there is a constant flow of fresh faces and fresh ideas. We hope you will be one of the lucky few to join and be trained by our senior staff.
Our program will be at at Loyola Marymount University, July 26-28, 2013, and California State University, Sacramento, August 2-4, 2013. Staff training is mandatory and ALL day, the Thursday, before. We are hoping for a full camp of 200 participants at each camp and we will need a minimum of 35-45 staff at EACH camp.
As you can imagine, there are more than 35 deserving alumni who wish to staff. Priority is given to exemplary staff, while making room for exemplary participants who have now graduated from high school and would like a first chance to join these elite ranks.
To apply, simply fill out the online form under “contact us” on the home page completely – Name, current address, phone and email. Indicate your interest to staff in the comments box. We will contact you with more specific information during the spring. If you would like a staff fundraising packet (highly recommended) please let us know that in your request.
It is never too late and you are never to old to staff NTLP! We hope you will join us this summer!
